Hi, I'm Rick Irving. I recently retired from a long career as a school social worker in Andover, MA and as a private practitioner therapist so that I could focus on consultations and speaking engagements, and so that I could continue writing a book for parents describing my approach to working with children and adolescents.

In this blog you'll find a variety of articles ranging from tips and hints on how to deal with particular situations, as well as more mundane announcements of upcoming lectures and meetings.

Rick is a lifesaver for families. He manages to turn an issue 90 degrees so you can see a new angle and understand things in a new way. He does not push ideas and just wants to help! He can help you laugh at a situation that annoyed you 30 minutes ago. Cannot say enough about how helpful he is.
